It is always difficult to innovate in story of fight or boxing. Either the hero is a young first to grow in contact with a veteran coach, or he is an old story on the decline, which seeks to restore its reputation. The Ram (Rourke) is part of the second category. Icon of kids and adults in the 1980s, the wrestler gold suit gave meaning to their existence. To get there, he resumed training and fighting despite a failing heart, at the same time wishing to be closer to his daughter (Evan Rachel Wood).
