Alien Trespass
Roadside Attraction presents a sci-fi film set in 1950 backdrop. But the movie is in color, unlike those times and it’s about a deadly extra-terrestrial monster set free to terrorize the people and town that is landscaped in a desert.
Directed by R.W Goodwin and scripted by Steven P Fischer, this film Alien Trespass attempts to scare people with monstrous claws, tentacles, jaws, weapons and eyes that can shot laser beams on its victims mainly the locals. The fact is, instead of laser beams it was known as deadly rays in those days of 50s.
The film unfolds with the scene where Ted Lewis played by Eric McComark and his wife Lana portrayed by Jody Thompson were grilling steaks at the backyard. They were taken aback when in a split of second a flying saucer crash landed in a nearby mountain side emitting deadly rays.
Ted goes to investigate and returns with body taken over by Urp, a good alien. His wife Lana was frantically searching him. The central theme of this movie is to hunt for the bad alien who landed from the same saucer.
The bad alien has been portrayed with one eye to resemble a Blue Eyed Monster and is named as Ghota in the film. This deadly monster terrorizes all by consuming people. It grows and divides by gulping them.
Ghota reminds all as B.O.B in the film Monster vs Aliens. But much justice has not been done to the period that this movie represents. Far From Heaven by Todd Haynes, on the other hand is a great tribute to the movies of 1950s.
The film plot then revolves around the battle between Urp and Ghota. Urp is helped by Tammy. Tammy is a local waitress in the film and scores over Lana to fight Ghotta. Amidst these characters there was local policemen too played by Robert Patrick and Dan lauria. Town people were definitely a crowd all over with scenes shot about Lewis family and home that was separated from the vast stretch of desert by a white fence.
As a film critic, it can be said with certainness that Alien Trespass is one badly made movie that is inept among the new generation audience. Alien Trespass is a kind of movie that is akin to World Science Fiction Convention or ComicCon.
A film filled with self deprecating humor is what Alien Trespass all about. There are some shots in the film that will miss out audience’s glances but if viewed seriously you can notice them. For example the projection shots of backside from people sitting on the dashboard in the front end.
Watching the film you might realize that there is a serious shortage of sci-fi films and so a movie of this sort is made. The film fails to grip the audience in its tentacles of story threads.
If you wish to watch a science fiction films then spend your money in the multiplex that is screening Knowing. The film is rated as parental guidance or PG for some smoking sequences and science fiction sequences.
