Brüno: Where is the Life Taking?

Larry Charles has directed the film Brüno, and it is an uncensored laughter riot. The best part of the film is that although it is about 80 minutes film there is not a single moment that drives you to boredom, which demands a round of applause. The film will tickle your funny bone and you just can’t stop but laughing.

You will feel different emotions rushing at one time and will be left in a state of disbelief and appreciation at the same time. Sacha Baron Cohen plays the role of Brüno, and he is also the screenwriter of the film and brings out the most hilarious comedy.

It is quite hard to define Brüno’s character and any description of his role might sound unfair or not suitable. Brüno attends a fashion show in Austria sporting a Velcro suit that fetches him some serious humiliation. The incident actually motivates him to achieve a celebrity status, and so he leaves to LA with Lutz played by Gustaf Hammarsten who is an ardent fan of Brüno.

The slapstick comedy during the Fashion show is simply outstanding. Majority of the scenes in the film are manifestations of reality and actors stage some of the sequences, for instance the interview with Paul Abdul and the other interview with LaToya Jackson are real manifestations but the latter interview was discarded from the film as Jackson’s brother passed away and the parents who are present in the interview are real life parents of the babies who aspire their children to reach stardom.

The film has some amazing scenes and one such scene is when Brüno gets his adopted black baby from Africa on a show, which is filled with black audience. Cohen puts the character of Brüno in funny situations, and he has quite pulled off a remarkable performance in these scenes and well aware of the fact that he will get only a single shot to perform in these scenes. There is one more scene in which Brüno involves in gay wrestling match and there are two men in a cage who end up in a dual eventually get turned on during the process.

BrunoYou might actually sympathise with Ron Paul who is a good man and Cohen has compelled him to handle a weird person throughout the strange television shows and answering vague questions that are put forth in front of him. There is hotel room scene in which Brüno has dragged Ron Paul to attend a TV show that interviews ministers about treating gays and airing a gay wrestling match in front of an actual crowd. But Ron Paul is ready to sit through all this torment and torture to get publicity. Ron Paul though has not missed out a chance to vent his anger and frustration; he actually makes unacceptable comments on the homosexuals after TV show.

Larry Charles has done a good job with his past experience of hosting a TV show has given him enough skill to handle public humiliation concept in the movie.
