Dance Flick

The film Dance Flick is not running full house if you thought so and don’t be surprised if you hardly find any audience in the hall or see if someone is taking a nap. The film is not promising in any angle and there is no serious commitment towards the plot, which derails the movie from the main purpose.

The movie is supposed to be a parody, and it is disappointing piece of work at it that has failed to produce the goods. The humour is forced upon, nothing is spontaneous. Whatever the funny moments that you see are a drab and they do not seem to promote the feature of a parody instead irritate the viewers every now and then.

The story is about Megan played by Shoshana Bush who is a white girl from the suburb and moves into a city is has dominant population of the blacks after her mother’s death. Megan’s only dream is to rule the dancing world and to fulfil the dream she gets admitted to a dance school, which has aspiring young artists who share a similar dream like hers. And here she finds a friend who is an unmarried mother Charity played by Essence Atkins. Charity’s baby accompanies her always and in the meanwhile Megan gets introduced to Charity’s brother, Thomas played by Damon Wayans Jr., to serve the family business!

Anyway, Thomas has the access to disrespected dance competitions. Here is the saviour or the godfather in Megan’s life who is hell bent to promote her dancing skills and by the way Megan is actually a proficient Ballerina dancer but her mother’s death shook her dream.

Dance FlickThere is nothing else left to discuss about the plot the rest of the film revolves round the not so funny conversations and moments that hardly serve any purpose. Don’t feel disappointed all that much, because the film has a few laughable scenes too, which could be a sudden pleasant surprise. But the feeling almost dies immediately, as the meaningless scenes outnumber the good scenes in the film.

There are certain moments in the film that are out of any reason and logic, for instance the scene where a dancer delivers a baby on the dance floor! How obnoxious is that? You simply need to put up with the director’s “creative skills”. That seems to be the fate of the film, which is directed by Damien Dante Wayans and he is also the writer of the film too with inputs by most of his family members. With all the combined effort the movie has failed quite drastically.

Well, there are only few scenes in the film to cheer about and apart from that please do not have any great expectations because you will deeply regret for watching the film. It does not fit the league of parody films by any stretch of your imagination.

You certainly have better choice of films that are released annually. So why rack your brain on this one? After all you shouldn’t be suffering for somebody else’s follies. So change your plans for the weekend and for sure you will have better things to do rather than watch Dance Flick.
