G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is the latest flick based on children’s cartoon characters of the 80s. Keeping this as the very basis of your thought, you can just go and have some fun, but if you don’t know much about G.I.Joe then you will find yourself seeing a movie where simply lot of things just got blown off with lots of explosions and bloodless violence.

Just after Transformer 2 this summer, GI Joe: Rise of Cobra is another try where our heroes are all immortal and there is no flaw in their existence. Do not go to see the movie with the expectation of a storyline, instead treat your eyes with some action fest and enjoy power-packed screen time. The film does not give a back story to every character, instead it opens up with actions and that continues till the end.

There is element of a love story in the movie which will not be liked by the old school fans of G.I.Joe. However, in the movie you will find lot of loose threads such as scenes of how Duke knew the Baroness, the animosity between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and finally how the Cobra Commander came into existence. But you might not be happy to see the form of Cobra Commander in the movie as it bears the least resistance with the character in the G.I. Joe cartoon story.

If you have read G.I. Joe earlier, you know that the Cobra Commander is the snake man with a silver mask and shrill voice. But, in the movie you can be rest assured that you will not hear the horrid shrill voice instead the voice is deep and leaves quite an impact.

But, you need to have some attraction for the movie and that is Sienna Miller who plays the character of Baroness and she is real fun to watch. What the Baroness character misses in the movie is the horned-rimmed glasses and definitely the accent. Additional magnetic attraction is the character of Scarlett played by Rachel Nichols.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of CobraOne can rate the movie as cheesy with lots of fun and the characters are either too good or extremely bad. Again, the movie runs for 1hr 45 minutes but not a second you are away from any action sequence.

Most importantly the action sequences are really well done with no difficulty in following the shots and the punches. You know for certain who is where and what they are up to. The movie is all about a chase where the bad boys are in for destroying the cities while the good ones going to prevent that.

The Snake Eyes or Storm Shadow will make fans really drool over them. It is not that you will witness a great battle between them but you will also know how they met in their earlier days.

The film also boasts of lot of high-tech weapons, sci-fi gadgets and smart vehicles. It also shows how futuristic weapons work and you will find your childhood cartoon come into live with actions in the movie G.I. Joe-Rise of Cobras.
