He’s Just Not That Into You
The poster, the trailer and the rumors surrounding “He’s Just Not That Into You” heralded a new movie of girls in the style of “Sex and the City”. This is not the case. Rather, it is a romantic comedy where funny and cute clichés and conventions of the genre are generally diverted. Perfect for everybody.
Love, always love. Impossible to escape. Even if the human being is single or married, there are many signs and people who take care to analyze in depth often alongside opportunities. This is precisely the case of nine people who love to complicate their lives. Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) did not know what to do to have a lover. In his entourage, there is Beth (Jennifer Aniston) who is eager whose law partner (Ben Affleck) is to make a major proposal, and Janine (Jennifer Connelly) who feels her marriage to the board.
It is that her husband (Bradley Cooper) is not immune to the charms of Anna (Scarlett Johansson). Maybe she should not have had to listen to the advice of her friend Mary (Drew Barrymore) and should rather take an opportunity to Conor (Kevin Connolly). Add to that a bar owner (Justin Long) who seems to have infuse science with the methods of seduction and you have the perfect romance for Valentine’s Day.
The idea may seem preposterous. In the 21st century, what can be said again on the relationship between men and women? And how to have the feature does not look like a carbon copy of Woody Allen opus? This has not prevented writers Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein transposed to the screen the popular novel by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, and director Ken Kwapis to forget his disastrous “License to Wed” by signing his best work in career.
Is that the story not necessarily serious? The winks abound, like the illustrious unknown reviews which support the few intertitles of the company ( “if you do not remember”, “if it does not want to marry”, etc.). . Between Mars and Venus, there are winding paths that continue to fascinate and despite the abundance of known and common places, the set is refreshing. This is naughty situations and well placed humor in tasty dialogues.
As well as Bradley Cooper who cannot be outrun by Jennifer Connelly significantly more comfortable than in the remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” It is however Ginnifer Goodwin which may attract attention and praise as a strong and energetic woman. With the friendly Justin Long, she simply sparks. It should not necessarily rely on appearances.
“He’s Just Not That Into You” is nothing like “New in Town” and all those other romantic comedies predictable as possible. Despite its flaws (a little sticky end, an abundance of superfluous characters) and its too long, the charm operates quickly, and it is difficult not to recognize a little in these adventures where the heart has its reasons, for better or for worse.
