I Love You, Beth Cooper

I Love You, Beth Cooper is a romantic comedy that revolves round Beth Cooper (Hayden Panettiere). Denis is a high school dud who is head over heels for the most notable girl in the school, but he seldom reveals his crush for her. The movie transits into a dream where Denis makes a bold attempt of disclosing his love for the gal, Beth Cooper in his farewell speech.

Run time: 1 hour and 42 minutes
Rating: 2.5/5

The sad part of the film is that it is an unending dream and the hero never wakes up to the reality and realises that it in fact was all a dream and that is a major let down.

The movie I love you, Beth Cooper has nothing big and nothing new to offer, it is a monotonous story of a guy having a secret admiration towards the best-known girl in his school, and he does not have the guts to approach her or tell her about his feelings and so he starts dreaming.

Of course, we all know what we can do in the world of dreams; achieve and fulfil desires that are seem to be impossible in the real world. The movie exactly follows the same rule but it can’t go on forever and all good things must come to end but the film forgets this principle and takes all the liberty to keep the dream alive till the end.

The hero makes a brave attempt to pronounce his love in the farewell speech on his graduation day, and he is seldom afraid of the repercussions and to that extent the movie is convincing and the audience will take that with questioning. The film glorifies the brave hero who professes his feelings in front of the public eye.

All this is possible in your dream and most of the times you will succeed in getting more than you actually desire; and that is the power of dreams. The movie could have well been tagged as successful high school comedy even if it had tried to show that the hero eventually falls for a dumb girl who looks great without her boring specs could have fetched the movie some accolades.

It is so monotonous to see the popular girl having two friends by her side that is so same and boring. But the fact the gal is good-looking and that will bring some cheer and probably you will ignore the monotony. Two aides surround even the bad guy in the film, which yet again dampens your spirit.

Rich Munsch is the villain played by Jack Carpenter and he is portrayed as a goon who is always bullying people with the help of his useless friends. But the saving grace is the heroine.

The other let downs of the movie is the special effects, which way too far and you cannot believe high school kids going on a rampage or involve in something so devastating. They are so dangerous and destructive.

The hero and the heroine of the movie are definitely appealing, and you will certainly wait to watch them in their next project. Hayden Panettiere as Beth Cooper emotes very well and she has an amazing screen presence. Paul Rust who plays the role of Denis is worth a mention.

Apart from this there is nothing new the movie has to offer and it is quite surprising to know why the director of the film Chris Columbus directed this movie after making two Harry Potter movies that has no universal appeal.
