Race to Witch Mountain
The innocuous family entertainment, Race To Witch Mountain is a film directed by Andy Fickman starring Dwayne Johnson, phased out of The Rock moniker to play the role of a pleasing entertainer. This sci-fi film is a remake of 1975 classic Escape to Witch Mountain.
However, this 21st century Walt Disney movie stars two young kids Sara and Seth played by Anna Sophie Robb and Alexander Ludwig, this helped Race To Witch Mountain capitalize on youth market as these kids reflected their innocence and charm as extraterrestrial beings who crash landed their space ship on Earth.
The crux of the film is that the flying saucer was held in a secret UFO facility inside Witch Mountain and what did the young aliens finally do after reaching the spot with Dwayne Johnson and others.
This location is one that cannot be traced through Google maps as because the Witch Mountain has been sculpted as a specific need of the film. The mountain resembled the outcrop where the flying saucer landed in the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
In the film, Dwayne Johnson plays the role of Las Vegas cab driver, as he wanted to earn his living straight this time after he got out of prison. One day, on the backseat of his cab, two children aged 15-16, seating in the backseat of his cab offered Johnson wad of cash to take them to some remotest desert location. These little aliens began behaving strange and were speaking amusing English.
These little ones were on the mission to rescue their space ship and with them was Dwayne Johnson playing the role of a tough action hero who was neither very nasty nor dangerous. He was entertaining, chasing fights as Ooze Monster without being threatening.
Trio had many moments of fun and laughter together. Later, on the mission joined Dr. Alex Friedman played by Carla Gugino. Dr. Alex Fried man was a lecturer and was in Vegas teaching young boys and girls about UFO.
The film reaches its climax when these aliens are chased by team of federal agents led by nefarious Burke played by Ciaran Hinds. With dozens of SWAT team members, black SUVs fitted with tinted glass, the chase led them all deep into the Witch Mountain.
The film is a perfect blend of humor, wit and drama. The kids showed magical powers too. In one shot Seth plunged his arm into gelatinous goo till the elbow and extracted an extraterrestrial cell phone beneath a miner’s shack. All can enjoy much more similar kind of amusing scenes as the movie unfolds.
So, discover more on Sara and Seth as to how they really looked and behaved like aliens by watching the movie. But, whatever be it, the young ones looked real cute and Johnson made an enjoyable companion with them.
The film is rated as PG for the violence and action sequences some scary and frightening images.
