The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard

This latest comedy The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard is filled with too many comedians. The story is all about a funny car salesman and the many people who take the car ride. The lead character of the film has pulled many threads but the director has failed to hit all the cylinders for an accelerated drive. There is melee of castings and each one is bouncing up only to bump against one another. The cinematography makes you feel that it was shot in some dark and ugly locations as it reflects grimy settings.

Here is Don Ready. The obvious question is who is he and what does he do? He is definitely the lead character and the car salesman but besides that he plays the role of a lover and song stylist also. He has been entrusted with the job to save a car dealership agency by selling off all the vehicles in just three days. The dealership owner is Ben Selleck who is knee deep in financial calamity and is almost on a verge to give up his agency to his competitor.

The other characters of the film are Tony Hale of Arrested Development as an ineffective salesman, Ed Helms, member of man-boy band, Craig Robinson as a disc jockey and Rob Riggle with an extremely aged look. It is amidst these characters Jeremy Piven as Don Ready did not have the magnetic attraction. It became clear that Jeremy Piven is ineffectual in lead roles; instead he fares better with supporting ones. As you watch the film you will realize that Piven failed to generate the required charisma to keep the movie in inertia of motion. In one of the scene Don Ready had to convince one flight attendant for smoking in the plane and in no time audience will realize that his acting failed to charm everybody, everywhere and every time.

The Goods Live Hard Sell HardIf you really wish to watch a funny movie on car salesman, then I must recommend you Used Cars as it’s a comedy that portrays rivalry between two car dealerships.

In this movie The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard: there is not much into it. It’s a short story that has been dragged too long because of the slow edition and direction. The process of buying a used car is a pain but watching a used-car salesman adds salt to injury. The movie is expected to be funny but with its large ensemble this film tried to make people laugh for politically incorrect reasons. It has only couple of amusing lines, rest falls flat with unpleasant feeling. Individually the characters are good but together they simply failed to cling on interestingly.

In my opinion Piven has failed badly as he lacked the charisma and the sense of humor that is essential to hold on to the pulse of the movie.
