Rating: 3.5/5

June 5, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):The movie takes place in 1954; US Marshals Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) and new partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) take a Massachusetts ferry to Shutter Island, where a prison for the criminally insane insulates its inmates from the mainland. In fact, Chief psychologist Dr. Crawey (Ben Kingsley) prefers that the residents of Shutter Island be called “patients” – and in the case of the present mystery, one such disturbed individual has mysteriously escaped from her locked room while a bevy of guards stood watch. The Road

Friday, December 4th, 2009

The Road is based on Pulitzer-winning novel written by Cormac McCarthy, and this will most probably turn out to be one of the best motion pictures of this year to say the least. The movie brings alive the characters and images from the novel, but the emotional content does not seem to suffice. (more…)

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is based on Stephanie Meyer’s novel and is directed by Chris Weitz. This one is a sequel to the movie Twilight and sadly could be rated as the worst sequel ever.

If the movie has to be described in one worked then it should definitely be terrible or rather torturous. The same old boring dialogues, the loose plot, and lengthy scenes are like slow poison. The director must have thought on similar lines, to give the audience a dose of vampire romance that will turn you turn you into a vampire. The characters have crossed 100 years of age but they are still 12th graders!  Isn’t that annoying? Who will buy such an exaggeration? (more…)

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

What could have prompted director Troy Duffy to make a sequel to his popular film The Boondock Saints- He himself might not have gotten the answer for this.

Boondock Saints was made a decade ago, which made a mark for itself and after such a success it is rather sad to watch the latest of its sequel. Probably, you will never get an answer even if you watched the film. (more…)

2012

Monday, November 16th, 2009

For people who are of the belief that the earth will be doomed on the 21st December 2012 this is the movie to watch, which will give you a fair idea as to what is in store for all of us. Jokes apart the movie 2012 has all the elements to qualify to the league of films depicting the end of world. Director Roland Emmerich is back with large-scale destruction film after Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and Godzilla. Sony has blown out $250 million in producing the film and the movie released in 105 territories around the globe. The production company is expecting to make a huge turnover and why not? It has spent a handsome amount in marketing the film. (more…)

The Fourth Kind

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

The Fourth Kind is supposedly based on true events but nothing seems to be believable or true about the movie to say the least. It could really be pain to sit through the entire that runs for about an hour and a half. It simply feels waste of time, effort and money of course. Is creativity losing its way or are filmmakers falling short of finding good meaningful stories to present to the audience? (more…)

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Cirque du Freak-The Vampire’s Assistant is based on series of books by Darren Shah. It is not the atypical vampire film with bloodshed; instead it will leave you untouched and unmoved with Crepsley (John C. Reilly) as the lead vampire. (more…)

Saw VI

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Saw VI is much better than the Saw V although in similar lines to the earlier Saw sequel.

Saw VI is a rare kind of a movie with gruesome horror details. However, set in a simple location, Saw VI has that serial-killer who makes some deadly devices with weird items ranging from bicycle chain, digital timers and many more. But I would suggest that if you have not seen any of the earlier saw series then Saw VI is not the right option for you. (more…)
